Who are we?
We strive simply to be a congregation of the church which
Christ himself bought with His own blood in the first
century. Therefore, we are not a part of any man-made
denomination. We strive to wear the title of Christian
only (Acts 11.26) and not any other denominational name. How does a person
become a Christian?
The Bible teaches that we are all sinners who fall short
of the glory of God (Romans 3.23) so we all need to be
saved. In order to become a Christian and be forgiven of
sins, one must believe in God (Hebrews 6.11); repent of
sins (Acts 3.19); confess faith in Christ (Matthew
10.32); and be immersed.
A person automatically is added to Christ's church when
he or she obeys the gospel and becomes a Christian. (Acts
2.47)
Why is
baptism so important?
Immersion (or baptism) is for the remission of sins and
the salvation of our souls! It is not because we are
already saved people, not to satisfy our family or
friends, and not just for church membership. There are a
number of scriptures which prove the necessity of
baptism, such as Acts 2.38, Acts 22.16, Romans 6.4 and
Galatians 3.26-27.
Why do we
partake of the Lord's Supper every Sunday?
For the Christian, the Lord's Supper is a crucial time of
remembrance of Christ's suffering and also
self-examination. Our pattern for when and how often to
partake of the communion service is given to us by Luke
in Acts 20.7, when he wrote On the first day of
the week, when we were gathered together to break
bread...
Why don't
we use instruments?
In Ephesians 5.19, Paul says we are to be speaking
to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody with your heart to the
Lord. No other instrument, besides our voices
and hearts, are mentioned; so the wise thing to do is to
not use mechanical instruments in worship. When you hear
a congregation of God's people fill a room with their
voices, you realize just how unneccessary mechanical
instruments are!
How is our
congregation governed?
The New Testament gave the responsibility of overseeing
each individual, autonomous congregation to men called
elders (Titus 1.5) or overseers.
(1 Timothy 3.1) These men are instructed to
shepherd the flock of God. (1 Peter 5.2)
Our elders are John Archer (855-7595), Marlin Kerley
(855-2923), Curtis LaPorte (855-1995), Ken Nowlin
(855-0954), Ray Pinner (795-2352), J.B. Tarr (855-9521).
